Rolwaling Trek is part of the Himalayan east-central Nepal that lies along the north-eastern side of the finger land and that juts into Tibet to the north-east of the Kathmandu – Kodari – Lhasa highway. Rolwaling Trek encompasses Melungtse(7,181m), Melungtse II(7,023m) inside the Tibet border and Gari Shankar(7,134m) on the Nepal border with some 50 traditional peaks over 6000m, all broaden from the Nangpa La pass where the Mahalangur part novice southwest to the Tamakosi River. The path passes through ancient rhododendron, oak and pine forests interspersed with terraced fields around the villages. From the top of the Daldung La (3900m) there could be magnificent views of Gaurishankar and its satellite peaks. The summit ascents of Yalung Ri (5630 m) and Pachermo Peak (6273 m) are technically not difficult, but not to be underestimated because of the altitude alone! From the peaks, there are magnificent panoramic views of the 8000 Cho Oyu, Mount Everest, Lhotse and Makalu, as well as the entire Khumbu and Rolwaling. Comparatively, it’s one of the most arduous treks among the others trek which requires technical climbing experience and mountaineering knowledge.
